BeWelcome is updating its Terms of Use. The new Terms of Use will go into effect on 11th January 2014 at 12:00 UTC and replace our former Terms of Use.

By logging in after 11th January 2014, 12:00 UTC, you are accepting the new Terms of Use.

What are the changes and why are we making this update?

• The former Terms of Use were written in legalese. We wanted to simplify the language to make them easier to understand.

During the last General Assembly (GA) a new Board of Directors (BoD) has been elected. So far the new BoD has had an informal meeting to constitute the positions of the board members and a formal BoD meeting. 

In between meetings we execute decisions, prepare for the next meeting, take care of the day to day issues and of course continue with our regular volunteering tasks. This time we also had to approve of the minutes of the last GA. They are now published and official.

Every year, the General Assembly of BeVolunteer, the non-profit association that runs BeWelcome, elects a new Board of Directors (BoD).This year's election was held from 3rd to 5th November 2013.

BeWelcome's new decision making process is up and running. We've got a brand new suggestions tool supporting the process from a member suggestion to its implementation.

The first suggestions are already in the voting phase! You can find all topics that can currently be voted on on the voting page (check the page for updates regularly). Click on the topic you want to vote on and rate every suggested solution.

Hi all,

as the first suggestions reach the voting days a quick update was needed; additionally two small fixes were included.

• Voting should be fine with IE 8 and below now as well and a link to the discussion thread is included in the voting page
• You're now asked if you want to delete a message from your Inbox
• The start page now shows visitors to your area (instead of to your city)

I'm happy to inform you that we have removed the donation bar after less than two weeks because we reached the 500 euro needed to fund the Be Active Campaign.

The Board of Directors (BoD) are now accepting Activity Proposals that comply to the Submission Guidelines. We will start the official countdown once a Newsletter has been sent to all BW members.

Hi everyone,

the latest code was just deployed to the site.

Here's a rough list of changes:

• The biggest addition is the 'Suggestion' feature check it out at /suggestions. It's not finished completely yet but you can already start adding problem descriptions and start discussion about them.
• The rest of the changes are mainly improvements of functionality one that you might enjoy the most is that the delay when you post into a group or the BW forum should be much shorter now.

During the last General Assembly (GA) we brainstormed about ways to promote BW activities. One of the ideas was to launch a temporary donation campaign, aptly named "Be Active". The money raised (500 euro) would then be used to financially aid local BW activities.

When you log in you will see our donation bar. More information about our donation policy can be found on our donation page .

Once we raise 500 euro the donation bar will be removed and we will send out a Newsletter encouraging members…
